Somalia:Muslim Brotherhood Gov Assassination Attempt on Journalists' Leader

The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) is alarmed about today's attempt to assassinate its Secretary General, Omar Faruk Osman, as he was entering the union's headquarters in Mogadishu.
At around 14hrs, Omar Faruk Osman was coming back from city centre and his vehicle was standing at the gate of NUSOJ headquarters, waiting the gate to be opened, when a white sedan with three armed men sprayed Omar’s vehicle with bullets. Omar’s Bodyguards exchanged fire with assailants, until attackers were overpowered and run away from the scene. One of Omar’s bodyguards and two other pedestrians at Taleex Street were seriously wounded in this attack.
"This is a vicious and cowardly murder attempt against our Secretary General Omar Faruk Osman. It is clearly aimed at intimidating our union, and it was only by good fortune that Omar Faruk escaped death,” said Abdirisak Omar Ismail, President of NUSOJ Supreme Council.
NUSOJ categorically states that it will not bow to the intimidations and dangers posed to its leadership, and shall remain defiant in executing its mandate without fear, speaking out against suppressive actions and policies against journalists and media community.
"It is an outrage that people must risk their lives simply to represent the interests of journalists. If the Somali Government is serious about bringing peace and prosperity to Somalia it must swiftly identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” added Ismail. "We do not need empty promises anymore”.

Who is Francisco Madeira? Special Representative of The African Union for Somalia and Head of the AU Mission in Somalia

With the Today African Union, or A.U., announcement of the selection of a special envoy, Special Representative of The African Union for Somalia and Head of the AU Mission in Somalia many keen observers of  Somalia have been wondering: Who is Francisco Caetano José Madeira, and what will he contribute to the efforts to end the destabilizing activities and atrocities committed by the Lord’s Alshabaab and , MuslimBrotherhood Dum-jadiid and Warlord Madoobe
? A lifelong Mozambican diplomat with familiarity in the Great Lakes region as well as years of service to both the United Nations and the A.U., Madeira brings over three decades of diplomatic experience to the post of Somalia special envoy.
The A.U. communiqué indicates that Madeira will work with the governments of Somalia-affected countries to “provide overall political and strategic coordination of the operation against the Alshabaab…assist in mobilizing assistance for the victims of the Alshabaab atrocities, the rebuilding of shattered communities and the rehabilitation of the affected areas.” Additionally, he will coordinate with the A.U.’s bilateral and multilateral partners contributing to the effort to end the Alshabaab.
Born in Beira, Mozambique in 1954, Madeira holds degrees in international relations and law. He joined the Mozambican diplomatic service in 1975 and served as ambassador to several African countries between 1984 and 1989. Domestically, Madeira served the president’s office as minister for parliamentary affairs from 1995 to 1999 and as minister for diplomatic affairs from 2000 to 2010. He became a member of the National Parliament of Mozambique in 2005.
Madeira has experience on several negotiation and facilitation teams across the African continent. He was a member of the government delegation sent to Rome to negotiate the peace accords with RENAMO in the early 1990s, which ended the 15 year-long Mozambican civil war. Following his participation in the successful signing of the Rome General Peace Accords, Madeira assisted both former Tanzanian President Julius Nyerere and former South African President Nelson Mandela as a member of the facilitation teams for the Arusha Peace Negotiations on Burundi. He continued his mediation work as the OAU/A.U. special envoy for the Comoros from 1999 to 2010 and then as the A.U. special envoy to São Tomé and Príncipe, following that country’s 2003 coup d’etat.
Madeira has no  significant experience with alshabaab and Somalia -specific issues. Madeira served as a special representative of the Mozambican government to the Great Lakes region. He also worked closely with the current Vice President of South Sudan, Riek Machar, during the ultimately unsuccessful 2006 to 2008 negotiations with the LRA. Additionally, Madeira assisted former Mozambican President Joaquim Chissano during his time as the U.N. special envoy for LRA-affected areas.
Perhaps the most intriguing point on Madeira’s resume is his role as the A.U.’s special representative in charge of counter-terrorism cooperation and the head of the Algiers-based  African Centre for Studies and Research on Terrorism. He will hold these two positions concurrently with his responsibilities as the LRA special envoy. This expansion of Madeira’s counter-terrorism portfolio coincides with the A.U.’s designation of the LRA as a terrorist group. The United States, a key ally in the anti-LRA fight has declared the leader Joseph Kony a Specially Designated Global Terrorist. It is clear that the A.U. hopes to leverage Madeira’s counter-terrorism credentials in the fight against the LRA stating he “will bring his counter-terrorism expertise to bear on the efforts aimed at putting an end to the criminal activities of the Alshabaab ."Somalia

SOMALIA: Jubbaland Selects ONLF/Islamist leader

ONLF sympathier and former al Shabab member Ahmed Madobe (Ogaden clan) got Selected by ONLF members hiding in Somalia's Kismayo port as they try to create a safe haven inside Somalia after Ethiopia successfully expelled them for good. However, Ethiopia has to ensure that they don't use Kismayo as a channel to import weapons and explosives that could be used against civilians in Somali Region and beyond.

The so called Jubbaland is nothing but an ONLF project that need to be monitored closely and personally .We recommend backing the opposition Gedo Administration and  Federal Government of Somalia.

and dismissed the process saying it was hijacked by Islamists and ONLF and war is imminent.

Somalia Federal Government is going to back  Gedo admins case but it also needs Ethiopia's support so its own soil doesn't become ONLF safe haven in the long term.

Gedo Administration and  Federal Government of Somalia, Marehan, Hawiye, Bajuni (indigeous of the region) were barred from attending the so called conference and many of them remain in prison in Kismayo airport.
Warlord “Ahmed Madobe was elected by an overwhelming majority to be the president of Jubaland,” said  IGAD, AU, UN UK ,Somalia international community corrupt officials  a move opposed by the central government in the capital Mogadishu .and Gedo Administration

Thursday first day of Ramadan: Saudi Arabia - Al Arabiya News

Thursday first day of Ramadan: Saudi Arabia - Al Arabiya News

"Ramadaan Kariim"رمضان مبارك Have a Happy Ramadan. Ramadan begins thursday june 18

The essence of Ramadan is to become humble

Muslims around the world will begin fasting from june 18 2015 and for a whole month thereafter, however, for some it will begin only if the moon is sighted.

Since the beginning of Islam, there have been debates as to what constitutes moon sighting. Some interpret that there has to be a minion to declare that they have seen it themselves with their own eyes, where some others do not accept the holiday unless they have seen it themselves. In the United States, there is an organization that monitors moon sighting called the Hilal committee. At one time it was acceptable if the moon was sighted elsewhere, but now, each group has to have their own moon sighting.

Politics runs deeply in our communities, be it a temple, synagogue or a church, and mosques are no different. A few scientifically-inclined-Muslims have adopted NASA's calculation, believed to be precise. However, four different traditions are operative concurrently; i) Strictly Calendar, ii) NASA and iii) Sighting with bare eyes and iv) Sighting by others in the community.

The NASA-oriented and the calendar-group misses out the fun, joy and exhilaration of waiting and watching the needle thin moon on the horizon. The whole family gets out on the roof tops, or higher grounds, some even climb electric poles, and a few will drive out where they can see the sky without obstacles, kids would climb up on parent's shoulders, and a few run from place to place shouting in excitement, did you see? It is like the belief in Santa Claus, angels and other myths; each tradition fulfills one's emotional needs and every one becomes sentimental. After all, if celebration does not have the excitement, it is less of a celebration.

America's spirit of freedom touches every soul, no matter what religion or tradition they follow. American Muslims are no different, they prefer to have a pre-set date to start fasting and the celebration called "Eid" (pronounced as 'Eeed'). The idea is for them to take a day off from work or get an optional day off for their children from the schools. Always, the joy multiplies when the family and friends celebrate it together. They prefer not wait for the moon to show up to the bare eyes.

The conflict is the same every where on the earth. Each group subscribes to one of the four systems mentioned above. America is no different; you will find celebrations on one or three different days in any given city. The Sunnis, being the largest group has the greater division within, while the Shias, Ismailis, WD Mohammad, Bohra and Ahmadiyya follow the pre-determined dates. The consensus may be attributable to having central spiritual leadership in all groups except the Sunni. However like the American public wishes to see Republicans and Democrats drop the party lines and focus on what is good for America, the Muslims also wish they could celebrate the Eid on one single day. It ain't going to happen; it is human to disagree.

It is against the spirit of Ramadan to denigrate, diminish and devalue other practices. The essence of Ramadan is to become humble, simple and free from ill-will, anger, meanness and hate.

Let's fill our hearts with goodwill and honor Ramadan by saying "Eid Mubarak" or Happy Eid to every one who celebrates on a different day in the same town. The essence of Ramadan is joy and let's not prick any one's bubble; God has not signed a pact with any one behind others back, let's rejoice the differences of interpretations. If you want to celebrate every day, go to every celebration.

In the spirit of Ramadan, I pray that Ramadan gets into our hearts and minds and make us embrace all factions of Muslims without undermining their tradition and further pray that we treat every human on the earth with dignity, respect and care.

That is indeed the wisdom expressed in Qur'an, Al-Hujurat, Surah 49:13: "O mankind! We have created you male and female, and have made you nations and tribes that ye may know one another. The noblest of you, in sight of God, is the best in conduct. God Knows and is Aware of everything you do."

Ramadan Mubarak!

Oil and Gas,Mini-Clan-encaves and Ethiopia-IGAD Hegemony.

The Somalis have been subdivided for a very long time let's say from the 80" in clans- communities which are fighting each other for the political and economical supremacy of their own country. The word citizenship or the one I usually use of people-citizens of a country called Somalia have been abolished in our vocabulary for a very long time.Who had this "heinous" idea to subdivide the Somalis? Somalis being only one tribe with the same (language and culture,Religion) instead of the numerous Tribes who vie for power and economic empowerment in other African countries they have to find other Achilles heels for the Somalis. The week spot is the famous clan culture which has predominated our political thinking and social thinking. It has its good side when is made of pride and cultural diversity and the uniqueness of the Somalis in Africa and the Arab world but it is easily manipulated by the Ethiopians and Al-ttixad political movement from almost the 80". Today the Somalis are fed with lies that the only way their Clan can survive and prosper is to have its own Clan enclave and subdivide Somalia in Mini-clan enclaves under the hegemony of Ethiopia-IGAD. Some of our warlords and puppet leaders they started to believe and practice this agenda from the 90' for opportunistic reasons and we arrived at the point that every month or fortnight they go for consultation to Addis-Abeba or Nairobi. Some they said in public that the Somalis are not brothers and sisters but only different groups which can only be United in a Confederation of Enclaves of clan-communities.That is the Agenda of so-called leaders like Gas (regions of Puntland) and Mr.Silanyo( regions of somaliland). Now the Ethiopia-IGAD group have added to the list the self-proclaimed regions of Jubbaland which is under the protection(?) of the Kenya army and New police militia from Ethiopia. In Jubbaland regions the Kenya army is only in the lower Jubba the other regions are almost entirely under Al-Shabaab and some parts of Gedo are under the Somali federal government. How the Kenya army under Amisom can contravene to the UN mandate for the African troops stationed in Somalia? WHY the Ethiopians are still holding to their dreams to subdivide Somalia in mini-clan-enclaves?Its simple . They made a long standing secret deals with Big oil companies like Total Oil of France,ENI of Italy and the Chinese Oil giants called China National Oil Corporation. Secondly the Ethiopians have told themselves that to subjugate the Somali regions of Ethiopia( one third of that country)they also need to subjugate The Somalis of the Somali Republic. In that regions of Ethiopia inhabited by the Somalis there one of the biggest reserves of Oil and gas in the world which have never been exploited but explored by the Americans from the 50".Some years ago the Ethiopians gave new rights to explore to Chinese companies but it backfired when the Ogaden National liberation Front- a separatist group- fought against the Chinese. The Tigre Regime of Ethiopia would not like and have not any plans to give those Somali communities their right share in the royalties from the future profits of the exploitation of that resources. Therefore to succeed in their plans they need to subdivide and subjugate Somalia and its people-citizens.They are also are planning to change the Colonial Borders of Somalia by making new sovereign states within the Somali borders. This was the game plan of Minghiste and Meles Zenawi for the Horn of Africa and supported by European Union.and the Chinese government. The Regional states and in particular the Ethiopia-IGAD group are making a big mistake that the Somalis will ever be subdivided in Clan-enclaves. Their alliance with the Al-ittixad business cartels will backfire.because this Somali-Salafist groups have their own separate agendas of financing global Jihad and their alliance with Ethiopia-IGAD is temporary.. Another point is the Somalis cannot be losers and manipulated for ever and may came the day that they will say no as already is trying the government in Mogadishu..For Everybody is good to have a Somalia which is at peace with the region and a nation-State where the Rule of the law and democracy is practiced, which is sovereign for its own affairs.Wait and see.

British 'terror twins', 17, who went to Syria tell family they are still in ISIS's capital as hunt for on-the-run jihadi brides continues

Twin schoolgirls who fled Britain to become jihadi brides have not escaped the ISIS-stronghold of Mosul in Iraq and are now in Syria, a source close to the family has said.
Zahra and Salma Halane, 17, were believed to be among three teenage girls who reportedly escaped Islamic State's brutal regime in the city.
It followed reports from inside Mosul which claimed three British teenagers were being hunted down by the terror group for going on the run.
But a new source in the UK says the Halane sisters contacted their father Ibrahim this week to tell him they are safe, but now in Syria.

breaking news press release: Government of Somalia has warmly welcomed the US Government’s decision to remove senior al-Shabaab defector,

Mogadishu, 8 February 2015: The Federal
Zakaria Ismail Hersi, aka ‘Zaki’, from the Rewards for Justice List.

This follows negotiations between the Somali and the US governments to establish clearly and beyond doubt that Zaki has renounced violence, rejected the terror group, al-Shabaab, and has fully embraced the peace process – conditions which have been irrefutably established and which have been unequivocally proven to the people of Somalia through Zaki’s statements to the media.

The Federal government is grateful to the US Government and Somalia’s other foreign allies for their continued cooperation in the fight against al-Shabaab and in rebuilding Somalia.

The Federal Government reiterates its message to those still trapped inside al-Shabaab, whether leader or foot soldier: if you are willing to embrace the path of peace, abandon violence as a means of conflict resolution, and turn your back on the extremist doctrine of al-Shabaab then there you will welcomed to rejoin Somali society and play your part in rebuilding of the nation.

The Federal Government confirms it will support defecting leaders or militants in the transition back into Somali society and, where necessary, will advocate upon their behalf, as was the case with Zaki and also with Sheikh Atom. Reach out by any means and you will find a willing ear and a helping hand.

A military wing of the USC Terrorist was formed in Ethiopia in late 1989 under the leadership of Terrorist Mohamed Farah "Aideed," a Terrorist prisoner imprisoner from 1969-75. Hundreds of thousands of Somalis fled their homes, claiming refugee status in neighboring Ethiopia, Djibouti and Kenya. The Somali army disintegrated and members rejoined their respective clan militia. Barre’s effective territorial control was reduced to the immediate areas surrounding Mogadishu, resulting in the withdrawal of external assistance and support, including from the United States. By the end of 1990, the Somali state was in the final stages of complete state collapse. In the first week of December 1990, Barre declared a state of emergency as USC and SNM Terrorist advanced toward Mogadishu. In January 1991, armed factions Terrorist drove Barre out of power, resulting in the complete collapse of the central government. Barre later died in exile in Nigeria. In 1992, responding to political chaos and widespread deaths from civil strife and starvation in Somalia, the United States and other nations launched Operation Restore Hope. Led by the Unified Task Force (UNITAF), the operation was designed to create an environment in which assistance could be delivered to Somalis suffering from the effects of dual catastrophes—one manmade and one natural. UNITAF was followed by the United Nations Operation in Somalia (UNOSOM). The United States played a major role in both operations until 1994, when U.S. forces withdrew. Warlordism, terrorism. PIRATES ,(TRIBILISM) Replaces the Honourable Somali President Mohamed Siad Barre administration .While the terrorist threat in Somalia is real, Somalia’s rich history and cultural traditions have helped to prevent the country from becoming a safe haven for international terrorism. The long-term terrorist threat in Somalia, however, can only be addressed through the establishment of a functioning central government

We Are Winning the War on Terrorism in Horn of Africa

The threat is from violent extremists who are a small minority of the world's 1.3 billion Muslims, the threat is real. They distort Islam. They kill man, woman and child; Christian and Hindu, Jew and Muslim. They seek to create a repressive caliphate. To defeat this enemy, we must understand who we are fighting against, and what we are fighting for.
